Thermostats, Fireplace, Hot Water Heater, Outdoor Grill and Gas Fire-pit

Main Thermostat

  • The main thermostat is located on the wall at the top of the stairway to downstairs.
  • It can control all three floors (zones) separately.
  • In addition, the upper and lower levels each have their own thermostats that can be overridden by and can override the main thermostat.
  • If the fan is set on manual mode and set to “hold” it will run continuously.  The energy consumption of running the fan is negligible.

Gas Fireplace

To turn the fireplace on

Turn on the white switch on the wall to the right of the fireplace facing the lake. The switch is “on” when the top of the switch is depressed.

Please do not adjust the flame using the key low on the wall to the right of the fireplace. It is best to avoid using this control since you might accidentally extinguish the pilot or cause difficulty in lighting the fireplace.

Please do not leave the fireplace on overnight. It should be used a maximum of 6 hours to avoid damaging control circuitry.

You may need to be somewhat patient when lighting the fireplace because it may not ignite immediately after switching the wall switch.  Give it about 10 seconds. If it doesn’t ignite after that try turning the switch off and then back on.

AGAIN, PLEASE DO NOT EXTINGUISH THE PILOT since it can be difficult to relight and might require outside fee-based outside assistance.

To relight the pilot please call the Homestead office. There is a small fee for this service which the HOA will pay.

To turn the fireplace off: turn the white switch off (depress the bottom of the switch)

If you have problems contact the front desk at the Homestead.

Hot Water Heaters – The hot water heater is located on the lower level across from the laundry room. PLEASE Do not adjust the temperature.

Outdoor Gas Grill – Please be considerate of the next guest and clean the grill after each use. Please be careful to avoid getting grease on the deck. The grill uses natural gas. There is a valve behind the grill that must be in the “on” position.

Patio Gas Fire pitInstructions for lighting the fire pit are located on the south side of the pit. The important thing to note is that one must light the pilot before the main burner will ignite. To light the pilot turn the knob to the “pilot” position, hold it in and then press the igniter. This also requires some patience. Once the pilot is lit you can turn the knob to the “main” position for the main burner. For more detailed instruction see the Information Binder in your unit.
