Caring for your unit

Here are some housekeeping guidelines …

Please let Logan Sanders (lsanders@thehomesteadresort.com) a few weeks ahead of time whether or not you plan to use your unit.

  • When you dispose of your trash and recycling in the trash shed please make sure the door is securely closed
  • Please clean the lint filter in the dryer after each use
  • Please sweep sand from the floor since it causes excessive wear
  • Use only High-Efficiency (HE) detergent in the washing machines. Standard detergent will ruin the machine
  • If you MUST move furniture, do so VERY CAREFULLY. The floors are easily scratched.

The Homestead is our provider for both interior and exterior maintenance. Contact the Front Desk for your urgent maintenance needs.   If you are not sure who to call, start with the Front Desk and let them advise you. If the issue is not urgent and can wait to be resolved during Friday turnovers or April or November scheduled maintenance periods, please inform your Unit Representative. Contact information is available under the Board of Directors tab or in the owner’s list.

Keep in mind that the Shoreside North Homeowner’s Association is billed each time an owner requests a service call. If the issue is simple like a blown light bulb, please handle it yourself to save the expense. If you’re not sure, contact your unit representative.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO MAKE REPAIRS ON APPLIANCES OR FIREPLACES, other than to relight pilots, and then only if you are comfortable doing so. To relight the pilot or tips the operation of the thermostats, fireplace, hot-water heater, fire-pit or grill see the page titled  “Thermostats, …” under “Need to Know.”
