The Sleeping Bear area offers enough to keep even the most adventurous outdoors enthusiast busy with hiking, fishing, cycling, canoeing, kayaking, skiing, snowshoeing and more.

In Glen Arbor
    • Visit the many art galleries and shops
    • Paddle down the serene waters of the Crystal River in a kayak from Crystal River Outfitters.
    • Hike Alligator Hill
    • Climb the Dune Climb and hike to the Lake Michigan shoreline and back
    • Drive the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive
    • Rent a boat to cruise the Glen Lakes
    • Ride your bike along the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail providing several miles of scenic and well maintained cycling between Empire and Leland. Rental bikes are available from Crystal River Outfitters.
    • Visit the Farmer’s Market, in the lot behind Glen Arbor Township Hall, Tuesday’s from 8am – 1pm. (Seasonal)
    • Visit the Maritime Museum and stroll around the charming Glen Haven and the Coast Guard station
    • Ski at the Homestead on weekends in the winter
    • Go to a Spa Amira  (231 334-5253) or the Lilyjade Salon (231-334-5242) in the Homestead
In Leelanua County
  • Visit Leelanau’s small towns – Empire, Leland, Northport, Sutton’s Bay and others to explore the independent retailers and delicious local food.
  • Charter a fishing boat, take a fly-fishing lesson
  • Catch a ferry to South Manitou Island
  • Go wine tasting (beer and spirits, too!) in the county’s many wineries tasting rooms
  • Golf at one of the many beautiful courses – Manitou Passage is about 15 minutes east on scenic M22
